Dedicated Anodes
One way to control iron corrosion after applying tough coatings is to apply cathodic protection system. Cathodic protection systems are applied by two techniques of flow injection and installation of dedicated anodes on steel structures.
The three metals magnesium, aluminum and zinc have higher electrochemical activity than iron. By bonding the anode to the iron body, the anode phase due to its higher electrochemical activity than iron plays the role of anode and iron as the cathode in this electrochemical flood and the cathodic protection system is started to control the corrosion of the iron metal.
Design plays a key role in the efficiency of the sacrificial anodes. Depending on the location of the anode, the type of electrolyte and the protected surface, the shape and weight of the anode can be calculated.
